Mission:

Totally empowered community enjoying the abundance of nature

Vision:

To help transform communities in the Cordillera into models of sustainable natural resource management

History:

The Cordillera Green Network, Inc. (CGN) started when current President and Executive Director, Mariko Sorimachi, visited the Philippines, lived in the Cordillera and saw the environmental practice and knowledge gaps pervasive in the region.

Recognizing the need for these gaps to be addressed, Ms. Sorimachi, initially through the help of private funds and grants from generous organizations, established CGN and registered it to the Securities and Exchange Commission as a non-stock, non-profit, and non-governmental organization (NGO) in September, 2001. From there, CGN started its environmental advocacy, primarily aiming at the protection, preservation and promotion of wholesome environment. The organization is based in Baguio City, but its mission to help transform communities into models of sustainable natural resources management encompasses the whole Cordillera and its neighboring regions.
